Plockton is a charming village on the south side of Loch Carron and was used for filming the Hamish Macbeth BBC TV series with Plockton being the fictional Lochdubh. The film, The Wicker Man, was also filmed in this location as was some of the Inspector Alleyn Mysteries TV making this one of the most popular and picturesque villages on the west coast of Scotland attracting visitors from all over the world.
The mild conditions created by the Atlantic allow the Cordyline australis palm to grow well as can be seen in the photograph. This gives the village an exotic feel.
The area is also popular with artists due to the quality of the light, the village architecture and the landscape.
The village is also the base for an outdoor activities company that will train you in using sea kayaks. Adventure trips to Sky and St Kilda using sea kayaks are also available through Sea Kayaks Plockton.
